Frequently asked questions

How does this MMF calculator work? +

It uses simplified monthly compounding: advertised annual yield ÷ 12, applied to the balance after that month’s contribution. Real Kenyan MMFs accrue daily off NAV and credit monthly. Treat the result as an estimate, not a forecast.

Is withholding tax included? +

Yes. KRA withholding tax on interest is applied at 15% of each month’s gross interest (not on your principal). Gross interest, WHT and net interest are shown separately. The rate is subject to change — confirm against the latest KRA notice.

Are management fees deducted? +

No. Each fund’s advertised yield is already net of its management fee. The fee is shown for reference only and is not subtracted again.

When is the monthly contribution added? +

At the start of every month, including month 1 — so a 12-month plan with a monthly top-up deposits 12 times, plus your initial investment.

Are the fund rates up to date? +

Presets are a snapshot of advertised yields (25 August 2026), not a live feed. Kenyan MMF yields move with CBK policy. Check each fund’s latest factsheet, or enter a custom rate. USD and KES funds are listed separately and are never mixed in the comparison table.
